Yeomen Pounce on the Panthers

Box Score l Game Highlights

Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's soccer team ran its record to 4-1 with a convincing 2-0 victory over the Principia Panthers on Saturday evening at Fred Shults Field.

Once again the Yeomen were able to dictate the play from start to finish, doing an outstanding job of possessing the ball and being aggressive at the right times.

It was senior Chris Campbell who deposited the game's first goal in the 13th minute with an assist coming from Slade Gottlieb. Campbell took the cross from the far side and then sent into the right side of the cage. It was Campbell's second score of the season and the second helper for Gottlieb.

The Yeomen would cash in one more score before the half and that was all they needed to take all of the life out of the Panthers. Senior Andrew Wise netted his first goal of the season and second of his career with just under 10 minutes left in the frame. (Watch the goal).

In the second half the Yeomen worked the clock and played a comfortable tempo as they were never really threatened by the Panthers' attack.

Oberlin finished with a 14-4 advantage in shots, including an 8-1 edge in shots on goal. The Yeomen also triggered the game's lone corner kick.

At 4-1 the Yeomen are off to their best start since 2008 when they won their first four games before falling game number five.

Oberlin will play its first road game of the year when they travel west to Earlham College for a 5 p.m. tilt.
