Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's soccer team never got into a rhythm as they fell to the Spartans of Case Western Reserve by a 2-0 count on Saturday night at Fred Shults Field.
The Spartans got on the board in the 12th minute courtesy of an Eric Erb finish to the lower right 90 of the goal, and then Patrick O'Day would tack on an insurance score with just under two minutes to play in the game.
Oberlin was out-shot by Case 15-8, including an 8-3 edge in shots on goal. Five different Yeomen were credited with a shot in the game, with
Josh Wilkerson leading the way with three – one of which was on frame.
The Yeomen triggered six corner kicks compared to the Spartans' four, but were unable to cash in on any of their setpiece opportunities.
Brandt Rentel made six saves on the night for the Yeomen.
Oberlin will begin conference play when it returns to action next Saturday at Wabash College. The opening touch is set for 4:30 p.m.
