Oberlin, Ohio – An early goal by the DePauw University Tigers was all they needed to get past the Oberlin College men's soccer team, 1-0, on Saturday night at Fred Shults Field.
The Tigers' Andy Morrison netted the game's lone goal just 4:14 into the contest with an assist coming from Nick Williams.
Oberlin had its chances to add the equalizer, but could not do so as the Tigers withstood a second-half charge from the Yeomen. An early second-half attempt by
Dylan Tencic flew just wide and
Andrew Wise's rifle from 25-yards out grazed the crossbar on its way out of bounds.
Joe Graybeal also saw his setpiece attempt fly high in the 74
th minute and moments later had a look in tight that was denied by the DePauw keeper.
Dennis Kachintsev and
Enzo Cabili also had promising looks in the final five minutes that did come to fruition.
After trailing 4-3 in shots at the half, the Yeomen ripped off 11 attempts in the second session to finish with a 14-8 edge. The Yeomen also had a slight 7-5 edge in corners.
Brandt Rentel did his part to keep the Yeomen close as he made four saves on the night.
With the loss, the Yeomen fell to 7-7-1 and 2-5-0 in the NCAC. It was Oberlin's fifth straight setback.
The Yeomen will look to get back to their winning ways on Wednesday night at Allegheny College. The opening touch is set for 7:30 p.m.
