Delaware, Ohio – Ohio Wesleyan's goal just moments into the second half was all they needed to upend the Oberlin College men's soccer team, 1-0, on Tuesday night Roy Rike Field.
After starting the season 3-0 in matches that were decided by a one-goal margin, the Yeomen have now dropped four straight contests - all of which have been one-goal differentials.
It was Colton Bloecher who recorded the lone tally of the game in the 47
th minute as he followed his own shot that was denied by
Brandt Rentel and was able to put the rebound attempt into the back of the cage for his sixth goal of the year.
The Yeomen's scoring chances were highly limited on the night as they triggered just seven shots, with four being on frame.
Andrew Wise led the way with three attempts.
Rentel did his part in keeping the Yeomen close as he made a season-high 11 saves in 90 minutes of work. It was his largest total since making 12 stops against John Carroll University on September 2, 2011.
The Bishops, who are the defending National Champions, ripped off 35 shots with 12 being on target. OWU also out-cornered Oberlin 15-1.
With the win the Bishops improved to 10-2-3 overall and 4-1-1 in the NCAC. Oberlin fell to 7-6-1 and 2-4-0 in league play.
Oberlin returns home to host DePauw University on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
