Men’s Soccer Drops a Heartbreaker at Hiram

Chris Campbell scored his third goal of the season.
Box Score Hiram, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's soccer team gave No. 12 Hiram all they could handle, but in the end a late Terriers' goal gave them a 3-2 victory over the Yeomen on Saturday afternoon.

The Yeomen and Terriers were tied 2-2 with just over minute left in regulation, but Hiram was awarded a free kick on a play in which Oberlin thought it should have been a corner. With the confusion going on the field, the Yeomen defense did not properly get setup and Hiram was able to send the service to middle of the field where the ball was headed in for the game-winning goal.

With the loss, Oberlin fell to 7-5-1 and 2-3-0 in the NCAC. It was Oberlin's third straight loss in all.

The Yeomen got on the board first courtesy of Chris Campbell's third goal of the season.

The Terriers would tie the game up and eventually take a 2-1 lead. However, OC would add the equalizer with just over six minutes left. It was freshman Slade Gottlieb who cashed in his fourth score of the year to even things up.

Unfortunately, with the final moments not going in the Yeomen's favor, they were forced to return home without any more points added to their NCAC total.

Oberlin will look to return to its winning ways when they travel to Ohio Wesleyan University on Tuesday night.
