Unfortunately, the Big Red would add the equalizer just before the first-half horn – scoring off a settled corner. Even worse though for Yeomen fans was that Denison would tack on the go-ahead goal just over a minute into the second half.
From there, the Big Red packed it in defensively as the Yeomen were able to squeeze off just two shots in the second half.
On the night Yeomen were out-shot 13-8, which included a 7-5 DU edge in shots on goal. The Big Red also earned four corner kick opportunities compared to Oberlin's two.
Brandt Rentel did his part in keeping the Yeomen within striking distance as he made five saves in the contest.
With the loss Oberlin fell to 7-4-1 overall and 2-2-0 in the NCAC. Denison improved to 6-5-2 and 2-2-1 in league play.
At halftime, fans were treated to a special Faculty vs. Staff match where President Marvin Krislov played goalie for the Staff. The 12-minute game ended in a 0-0 tie due in part to a key save by Krislov.
Oberlin returns to action on Saturday afternoon when it travels to nearby conference rival Hiram for a 1 p.m. tilt. The Terriers, who are ranked No. 12 country, suffered their first loss of the season tonight by falling to Kenyon College 2-0.
