Oberlin, Ohio -
At the conclusion of doubles play the Oberlin College men's tennis sqaud was in possession of a 2-1 lead picking up wins in the second and thrid spots.  The Allegheny College Gators would not be held back for long as they took control of the North Coast Athletic Confernce match sweeping singles play dropping the Yeoemen to 1-2 in the NCAC East Division.

The Yeomen built their doubles lead on the strong play of juniors Joe Leffler and Sam Towne who, hitting in the thrid spot picked up an 8-1 win over Charlie Murphy and Frank Mosconi.

Oberlin's second win of the match came from the hands of Eliot Heaton and Logan Chun who would have to go extra games in order to get past the Gators' Mike Provenzano and Max Sosa 9-7.

"The tough part of tonight's loss is that this is a winnable match for our team.  If we can pick up a  couple of points that we dropped here and there then the outcome of this match could be quite different.  No we will use the next week to prepare for the NCAC Championships here in Oberlin," said head coach Adam Shoemaker.

Oberlin's top two hitters Chun and Charlie Marks each held early leads as they were both first set winners by 6-4 scorelines but they would end up falling in the respective matches.  Patrick Cole would turn up the pressure and defeat Chun 6-1, 6-0 in the second and thrid sets.  Marks put up a bit of a fight and went down swining in the second set in his match with Provenzano.  The Yeomen No. 2 had two match points in the tiebreaker but was unable to pull through dropping the set 7-6 (9-7) and then couldn't muster the fight in the third falling 6-0.

Towne and Leffler were close but they too were a bit short when it mattered dropping matches at No. 3 and No 4, respectively.  Jacob Allmaras defeated Towne 6-4, 6-4 and Leffler lost to Murphy 6-3, 7-6.

Oberlin (6-15, 1-2 NCAC East) will use the upcoming week to prepare the NCAC Championships.  The College is hosting both men's and women's championships (April 29-May 1) with the seedings to be determined with the conclusion of conference matches this week.
