Box Score
Oberlin, Ohio – A late run by the Oberlin College men's soccer team wasn't enough as the visiting Baldwin-Wallace College Yellow Jackets outlasted the Yeomen 3-2 on Tuesday night at Fred Shults Field.
After falling behind 1-0 just seven minutes into the game, the Yeomen were able to settle down and play toe-to-toe with the Yellow Jackets the rest of the way.
The score remained 1-nil until the 57th minute when senior
Wyatt Hayman controlled a service into the box from
Alen Cisija and finished it off into the top corner of the net.
Unfortunately, it didn't take long for the Yellow Jackets to respond, as they would retake the lead just three minutes later.
Pat Brennan would add another B-W in the 83rd minute to make it a 3-1 game and it appeared as if Oberlin's chances were slim, but
Justin Griffiths would add his third score of the year as he took advantage of a Yellow Jackets' defensive miscue to get back with one.
With just over three minutes left to play, Oberlin had one final run in them as a through-ball sent up the field to
Oliver Miller-Farrell put him in prime position to make something happened, but the potential excitement was squashed before it could even happen thanks to a close offsides call.
Oberlin had slight advantages in shots (16-14) and corner kicks (6-5). OC got whistled for 18 fouls compared to just 11 for B-W. The Yeomen also got tagged with four yellow cards on the night.
After winning their first two games, the Yeomen have dropped their last two contests and sit at 2-2 on the year. They will look to get back on track this weekend at the 21st Annual Bob Allen Nissan Classic at Centre College. The Yeomen take on the hosts on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and will then do battle against Transylvania on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
