Danville, Ky. – The score might not indicate it, but the Oberlin College men's soccer team played right with the Centre College Colonels on Friday night, however it was Colonels who came away with a 3-0 win over the Yeomen.

“We had our chances, but just didn't finish tonight,” Head Coach Blake New said. “We possessed the ball and controlled the tempo for most of the night. Right now we are just a little off and need to find that bite so we can finish in the final third.”

The Yeomen outshot the Colonels 19-18 and took six corner kicks compared to just four for the victors.

Oberlin (2-3) fell behind in the 31st minute as Austin Hall was able to cash in one of those four corners with a header that found the back of net.

Just moments into the second half, the Colonels took advantage of an OC miscue to add their second tally, before adding one more score 12 minutes later to effectively put the game out of reach.

Rookie Ari Schwartz led the Yeomen with four triggers – two of which were on goal.

Zach Lipshultz made four saves in 90 minutes of action.

The Yeomen will go right back to work tomorrow evening when they do battle against Transylvania University at 5 p.m.
