Springfield, Ohio – The Oberlin College women's lacrosse team played toe-to-toe with Wittenberg University for 22 minutes, but a stretch of 12 straight goals by the Tigers propelled them to a 20-7 win over the Yeowomen on Sunday afternoon.

Alice Zicht and Ilyssa Meyer each scored a pair of goals for the Yeowomen, while Lori Sako, Molly Bloom and Grace Amber added one apiece.

Rookie netminder Madeleine O'Meara rejected 12 shots and finished with a team-high six groundballs. She also registered three caused turnovers in the loss.

The Yeowomen (3-6, 0-2 NCAC) took an early 2-1 lead on Sako's score and got within 7-5 on Meyer's first goal of the day with 8:40 left in the first half. However, from that point on the Tigers took over and never looked back. They would score seven more times before the first half horn went off to lead 14-5 at the break.

Oberlin's offense went silent until just five minutes remained in the game.

The Tigers (8-3, 2-1 NCAC) out-shot the Yeowomen 38-18, but Oberlin did win the groundball game 26-20.

Oberlin returns to action on Tuesday evening at Denison University. The opening draw is set for 7 p.m.
