Yeowomen Fall to #9 Big Red

Granville, Ohio – Heading to central Ohio for a conference contest, the Oberlin College women's lacrosse team took on No. 9 Denison. The nationally-ranked Big Red toppled the Yeowomen 22-3 as Oberlin moves to 10-5 on the season and 1-4 in North Coast action.

Mary Rodman, Kylie Thompson, and Phoebe Dolan accounted for Oberlin's three goals, with Thompson and Rodman connecting on free position shots. Rachel Reiter collected a team-high three ground balls, balanced by a caused turnover and a draw control. Maddie Weathers added a pair of caused turnovers, groundballs, and draw controls as well. Sophie Ward rounded out the midfield play with two draw controls.

Denison scored the game's first three goals after five minutes of back-and-forth action. The Big Red tacked on another pair of scores, but Oberlin prevented the scoreless frame with a free position goal from Rodman at the final second.

Down 9-1, Janny McCormick made a doorstop save and successfully cleared the ball in the second period. At the 4:45 mark, Thompson connected on a free position shot to cut the lead to seven.

Oberlin's next highlight came in the final quarter, when the Crimson and Gold midfield forced a turnover during the Big Red's transition. Coming up with possession, Dolan drove to goal and scored for the Obies.
