Box Score

Oberlin, Ohio –
The visiting Kenyon College Lords handed the Oberlin College men's soccer team just its second home loss of the season with a 2-0 shutout of the Yeomen on Tuesday night at Fred Shults Field.

“I felt we came out sluggish from the start and were never able to get into rhythm all night,” Head Coach Blake New said. “Now we just need to regroup and find a way to beat Wabash in the final game of the season to hopefully get into the conference tournament.”

Oberlin (8-6-2, 3-4-1 NCAC) seemed to lack a sense of urgency throughout the match being out-shot 16-5, including 10-2 in the first half.

The Lords (12-4-1, 5-2-1 NCAC), who rank fourth in the Great Lakes Region, scored in the 37th minute as Jamie White finished off a free kick service from Russ Miller. The second Kenyon score came just 1:46 into the second half with Jeremiah Jemison cashing in a cross from Felix Hoffmann.

Oberlin's best chance to score came 23:04 into the contest as Skyler Dum and Drew Williamson had a 2-on-1 breakaway opportunity, but a long touch by Williamson left him with a bad angle at the goal and his shot flew wide of the cage.

Junior Zach Lipshultz worked all 90 minutes in the net, registering five saves on the night.

A tightly-called match resulted in 30 foul calls with 17 going against the Lords and 13 against the Yeomen. Dum and Oliver Miller-Farrell drew yellow cards for Oberlin, while Jeremy Fischer got one for the Lords.

Oberlin closes out the regular season on Saturday afternoon against the Little Giants of Wabash College. The opening touch is set for 5 p.m. from Fred Shults Field.
