Oberlin, Ohio – The No. 2 ranked Ohio Wesleyan University battling Bishops handed the Oberlin College men's soccer team its first home loss of the season, coming away with a 2-0 victory on Wednesday night at Fred Shults Field.
“They are a great team with great size and speed,” Head Coach
Blake New said. “Our guys fought their tails off to hang with them and I was happy with our effort tonight.”
The Bishops (12-0-2, 5-0-0 NCAC) scored once in each half to earn the win. Travis Wall would book the first one in the 24th minute as he took advantage of a defensive miscue that left the goal open for an easy score. It was Blake Pifer who added the insurance tally in the second session.
The Bishops displayed their dominance with a 23-4 shot advantage and 13-1 edge in shots on goal.
Junior
Zach Lipshultz had a career-night in goal with a career-high 11 saves.
The Yeomen (6-4-2, 1-2-1 NCAC) will look to bounce back on Saturday night when they travel to Denison for a 7 p.m. NCAC tilt.
