Final Results

January 16 – After a long and grueling week of training in Florida, the Oberlin College swimming and diving teams returned to Ohio to take on Ohio Northern on Friday night, but both the Yeomen and Yeowomen came up just short.

The women were setback by a score of 148-93, while then men succumbed to the Polar Bears 146-91.

“After getting back in the early morning hours on Wednesday our team was tired, but that didn't stop them from displaying a great effort here tonight,” head coach Mark Fino said. “With another big meet tomorrow we are going to learn how to swim tired and continue to work to fine tune some components before the conference meet.”

On the women's side, Kelsey Sherman completed the 1000-yard course in 11:02.44 to take the top spot, while teammate Jenny Meltz was close behind with a mark of 11:03.78.

After returning from studying abroad during the first semester, junior Laura Fries wasted no time getting into the winner's circle by clocking in at 1:03.76 in the 100-yard back.

The Yeomen got strong swims from first-years Nick Lashway and Jebran Haddad, while registering a victory in the 200-yard medley relay.

Oberlin will be right back in action tomorrow afternoon at the Robert Carr Pool with a double-dual meet against Allegheny and John Carroll. All the action is set to begin at 1 p.m.
