Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's basketball team has promoted Coy Vantilburg to the position of Assistant Men's Basketball Coach, ahead of the 2026-27 season.
 
"I'm incredibly thankful for the opportunity to continue growing with the Oberlin College men's basketball program in this full-time role." Vantilburg added, "I'm grateful for the trust Coach Senthil and the athletic department have placed in me, and I'm excited to keep building meaningful relationships with our student athletes while helping them develop on the court, in the classroom, and beyond. Go Yeo!"
 
Vantilburg, previously a volunteer assistant coach for the Yeomen, has been a part of the program for the last three seasons. While on staff, the Crimson and Gold have made three North Coast Athletic Conference tournaments, won 40 games, and earned five All-Conference nods, including the 2023 Newcomer of the Year in JJ Gray.

He is one of the hardest workers I know, with a brilliant coaching mind. Coy is truly one of the brightest up and comers in the business, and I feel very fortunate he can now do this with us"
 
Prior to Oberlin, Vantilburg spent a season with Youngstown East High School in Youngstown, Ohio as the Varsity Assistant Coach. He helped the Golden Bears to their best record in seven seasons and led and executed skills and player development programming. Additionally, he was a Midwest Region Scout for Hillcrest Prep based in Phoenix, Arizona, and was the Co-Director for Outwork AAU in Northeast Ohio.
 
A native of Mansfield, Ohio, Vantilburg has served eight years in the United States Air Force and graduated with his Bachelor of General Studies from Youngstown State University in 2025.
 
Vantilburg will begin his role immediately, as the team prepares to welcome back their scholar-athletes for the 2026-27 year.
