Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Oberlin Triumphs Over Wabash on Senior Day

Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's basketball team prevailed over Wabash 65-60 on Senior Day, snapping an eight-game losing streak and securing their first home victory over the Little Giants since 2015. With the win, the Yeomen conclude the regular season 13-12 overall and 6-10 in league action, advancing to their fourth-straight NCAC tournament appearance.

Prior to tip-off, the Crimson and Gold recognized their 2026 graduating class of Zach Bronson, JJ Gray, Shea Laursen, Dut Lual, Milun Micanovic, Adam Navarre, Jackson Reynolds, and Zach Smith

Smith led Oberlin with 21 points, going 6-6 from the charity stripe and marking his seventh game of scoring 20+ points this season. JJ Gray produced 15 points and seven rebounds in the final home game of his career. Highlighting the Crimson and Gold defense, Sam Kamenko delivered a career-high 15 rebounds.

Wabash controlled from the start until back-to-back layups from Rob Magner cut Oberlin's deficit to one and launched an 11-0 surge capped with back-to-back triples from Smith. The Little Giants began to inch their way back as Augustus Donohue drilled a shot from downtown to launch 12 unanswered for the Yeomen.

Following a jumper from Liam Gray at 3:36, the Little Giants kept Oberlin off the board for the rest of the period, scoring the next 10 points and reducing the margin to five entering the halftime break.

Both teams battled nearly point-for-point in the opening five minutes of the second half until Smith and Donohue added three-pointers to extend Oberlin's lead to nine. Trailing by one at 9:39, the Little Giants put the pressure on the Yeomen, who responded by working their way back up to a 59-50 advantage at 4:27. Maintaining a slight three-point lead in the final minute, Smith added two late free throws as the Crimson and Gold secured the conference victory on Senior Day.

"I could not be prouder of a team than I am tonight. This team has battled so much adversity and found a way to play their best basketball at the most important time," Head Coach Shiva Senthil adds. "To beat Wabash on Senior Night is so special for everyone in this program. So thankful for how resilient and tough our guys are. On to the conference tourney."

With the final regular season game played, Oberlin will enter the NCAC Tournament as the No. 6 seed and will travel to No. 3 John Carroll on Tuesday, February 24, for the First Round matchup. Evening tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
