Yeomen Soar Past the Owls

Gambier, Ohio - The Oberlin College men's basketball team secured their 20th victory against Kenyon following four double-digit scorers on Wednesday night. Cruising to a 78-59 win, the Yeomen improve to 12-12 (5-10) in their final road contest of the regular season.

Leading Oberlin's offensive charge, Zach Smith and Milun Micanovic produced 18 points apiece and combined for 11 rebounds. Recording four triples, Augustus Donohue posted 12 points, while Rob Magner finished with 11 points.

The Crimson and Gold knocked down the first points of the night with an early layup from Micanovic. On Oberlin's next possession, Smith notched a shot from behind the arc as JJ Gray added the assist. The home team battled their way to a slight lead as the Yeomen quickly responded with a pair of triples from Micanovic and a three-pointer from Donohue.

Smith added six unanswered points of his own, pushing Oberlin to increase their advantage. Following a Magner layup, Sam Kamenko, Donohue, and Magner each registered a three-pointer, extending the Crimson and Gold to a double-digit edge. Kenyon battled their way back down to a single-digit deficit to close out the opening half.

The sharpshooting continued for Oberlin in the second half as the Yeomen delivered a 10-0 run in three minutes, highlighted with triples from Magner and Micanovic. Back-to-back three-pointers from Donohue stretched Oberlin's advantage to 22 at 13:41. Kenyon cut the margin to as low as 13, as Gray, Micanovic, and Smith knocked down a pair of free throws each to seal the 78-59 victory.

"It was just a complete team win by the boys tonight. We were just clicking on both sides of the ball," Head Coach Shiva Senthil adds. "We moved the ball so well and definitely did a really good job making them take tough shots. That was awesome."

Oberlin returns to Philips for their final regular game of the season, hosting Wabash on Saturday, February 21. Upon conclusion of the women's game, the Yeomen will celebrate their six seniors with a 3 p.m. scheduled tip-off.
