Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's soccer program welcomes Jack Kurtenbach as the Assistant Men's Soccer Coach ahead of the 2026 season.

"I am very excited to add Jack to our staff! He is a dynamic recruiter and great communicator. The guys loved Jack when he came to campus, and they are all very excited that he has decided to join us," Head Coach Blake New adds. "I think one of Jack's biggest strengths is his growth mindset. It is really clear to me that Jack is eager to grow and learn, and that will serve him and our program well."

Kurtenbach joins Oberlin after serving as the assistant coach at NYU for seven years. Helping the Violets to an NCAA First Round overtime victory in 2021 after receiving an at-large bid, Kurtenbach led recruiting efforts, helped create training plans, and directed team performance and video analysis sessions.  

During his time at NYU, Kurtenbach was the Co-Founder and Director of Operations at Elite Academic Soccer Camps for four years, hosting six ID and recruitment camps annually. The Illinois native also served as a Youth Programs Coach for the New York Red Bull, supervising coaches during summer sessions and developing training programs for athletes. 

"I'm thrilled to be joining such a storied program and institution, both filled with and led by great people. I'm very much looking forward to becoming a part of and contributing to the wonderful community that's been built in Oberlin," Kurtenbach continues. 

A two-year pitcher for the Violets' baseball team and two-year men's soccer team manager, Kurtenbach graduated with a bachelor's degree in sport management from New York University in 2019. 

The Yeomen are scheduled to begin their 2026 season on Tuesday, September 1, on Shults Field when they take on Otterbein at 7 p.m.
