Oberlin, Ohio – Highlighted by a goal less than a minute into the game, the Oberlin College men's soccer team delivered their first win of the season with a strong 4-2 victory over Heidelberg on Wednesday evening.

The Yeomen kicked things off to a hot start after
Jack Kaplan scored from inside the goal box after a pass from
Ishaan Saini just 54 seconds into the contest. Heidelberg answered less than two minutes later to level the field. Oberlin continued the early-half scoring just over 10 minutes into the match as
Christopher Plenca's shot soared over the goalkeeper's reach after a feed from
Enrique Porras Jr.
Less than three minutes later, the Crimson and Gold extended their lead to 3-1 as Saini crossed the ball to
William Delovitch, drilling the ball to the top left and scoring his first career goal. At 27 ',
Jack Kaplan sent a wide pass, finding Saini just outside the goal box. Launching the ball to the left of Heidelberg's keeper, Oberlin increased their edge to 4-1, maintaining that edge leading into the halftime break.
Offensive action calmed down to start the second half until the Student Princes added a goal at 64:44.
Kinton Surface sent Oberlin's final attempt on goal, but was stopped by Heidelberg's Xochiel Galvan. Holding the visitors off, Oberlin secured their first victory of the season.
Despite maintaining an 8-6 disadvantage in corners, Oberlin outshot Heidelberg 17-13, with nine shots on goal.
Ved Puttagunta appeared between the pipes for a full 90 minutes, recording four saves.
The Yeomen return to action this Saturday, September 19, when they travel to Calvin. Afternoon kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
