Westlake, Ohio – Senior
Angela Kumler, of the Oberlin College women's basketball team, has been named the Top Defensive Player, as announced by the North Coast Athletic Conference Wednesday afternoon.
This is the first time Kumler has earned a major postseason honor. The senior also earned a nod on the All-Conference Second-Team, marking her second All-Conference accolade.
Head Coach
Stephany Dunmyer said, "Angela being named the NCAC's Top Defensive Player and earning Second Team All NCAC is such well-deserved recognition! Over the course of her career, she has proven to be a complete game-changer on both ends of the floor and one of the most talented and versatile players to come through our program."
Kumler, an Ohio native, led the conference in steals with 97, and averaged a North Coast high of 3.9 steals per game. Additionally 31 blocks ranks fifth in the NCAC, along with her 1.2 blocks per game. Kumler collected 116 defensive rebounds, averaging 4.6 per game, which is the fifth-best total in the conference.
Starting in 72 of her 90 career appearances, the senior finished with 797 points in her career, 430 rebounds, 255 steals, and 110 blocks.
While Kumler is set to graduate along with three other Obies, the squad returns a plethora of young talent for the 2026-27 season.
