Westlake, Ohio – Claiming four wins across six three matches,
Freya Rahm has been named the North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday morning.
The Minnesota native played a key role in the Yeowomen's successful spring break trip, helping the team secure decisive victories over Goucher and Virginia Wesleyan.
Rahm went undefeated in her first two matches, winning at No. 3 singles in straight sets against Goucher (6-3, 6-0) before battling through a tight second-set tiebreaker to clinch a 6-4, 7-6(4) win against Virginia Wesleyan. She also contributed in doubles, partnering with
Eva Lopez for a walkover win at No. 3 doubles and teaming up with
Rachel Allen to take a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Against nationally ranked No. 13 Washington and Lee, Rahm and the Yeowomen faced tough competition, falling 7-0. Despite the setback, Rahm's strong performances throughout the week highlighted her reliability in both singles and doubles play as Oberlin continues to build momentum this season.
Tennis kicks off NCAC action this weekend, Saturday, April 5 when they head south to take on Ohio Wesleyan for an 11 a.m. start.
