Oberlin, Ohio – On the second day of the North Coast Athletic Conference Championship, the Oberlin College swim and dive team broke another school record. The men's 400-yard medley relay team of
Myles Felt,
Isaac Viviano,
Erik Fendorf, and
Chahine Saïd touched the pads at 3:18.61 to break the record that Felt, Viviano, and Fendorf helped to set last year. In his leadoff leg, Felt clocked a 48.79, which is well below the NCAA B Cut of 49.28. This is the first B Cut of Felt's career as he sits No. 22 in the nation for the 100-yard backstroke.
Beginning the day with the 1-mtr dive,
Jackson Bartlett had a phenomenal showing on the boards. The senior set a new career-high with 309.80 points in the prelims competition, claiming the fifth-seed for finals. 11 dives later in finals, Bartlett had tallied 282.75 points for a final place in sixth, and 27 points for the Yeomen.
In the pool,
Elinor Frost earned a spot in the B-Finals of the 500-yard freestyle race. With a time of 5:18:67 in prelims, Frost set a new personal best before hitting 5:22.22 in the finals. On the men's side, Saïd grabbed seventh in 4:34.21. The new PR for the sophomore sits just .82 behind Mike Heithaus' program leading 4:33.39, set in 1993.
In the 200-yard IM event,
Ava Peyton led the Crimson and Gold in B-Finals at 2:15.61.
Gretchen Lotter finished just behind her teammate, touching the pad in a new personal best of 2:18.28. For the men's team,
James Moll paced the team at 1:55.16. Teammate
Leo Powers broke two-year-old PR in the C-Finals of the 200-yard IM, clocking in at 1:55.37.
Moving to the fastest race of the Championship,
Isabel Pfaff led the Yeowomen in the B-Finals of the 50-yard freestyle race. Earning 11
th, the senior turned in a career-best time of 23.89. Even more impressive, this marks the first time Pfaff has broken the 24-second barrier. A slew of Yeowomen qualified for the C-Finals, led by
Ari Marrero (25.37),
Nyrobi Whitfield (25.61),
Ronen Baron (25.87), and
Charlotte Hantus (26.19).
Fendorf flexed his speed in the sprint race, making A-Finals and earning fifth overall in 20.51, just .03 seconds off his personal record. Viviano (21.65),
Zachary Black (21.83),
Finley Barber (22.52), and
John Polylogidis (23.60) competed in the C-Finals.
Capping the meet, the Oberlin 'A' 400-yard medley relay team of Peyton,
Soomin Yoo, Frost, and Pfaff swam a 4:03.12, which stands as the fifth-best time in Oberlin history.
Through two days of competition, the Yeomen have earned 324 points to sit fifth overall, while the Yeowomen have earned 279.5 points for fifth. On the men's side, Denison has 716 points for first place. Kenyon leads the women's competition with 721 points.
