Swim and Dive Breaks School Record on First Day of NCAC Championships

GRANVILLE, OH – The Oberlin College men's and women's swim and dive teams began their postseason campaign with day one of the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships. After just a handful of events, the Yeomen sit in 5th with 155 points while the Yeowomen earned 112 points to finish the day in 5th.

The Oberlin 'A' team of Miguel Siwady, Leo Powers, James Moll, and Chahine Said kicked off the meet in the 800-yard freestyle relay. With a time of 6:59.36, the team earned fifth-place in the opening race. On the women's side, Oberlin also earned fifth, behind an 8:12.14 performance from Hannah Hale, Gretchen Lotter, Lucy Lee, and Nyrobi Whitfield.

In the Championship's first diving event, the men's 3-mtr dive, both Sebastian Lagasse and Errol Hecht competed for Oberlin. Neither diver gathered enough points to make the finals, but both notched new personal bests in their event. Lagasse earned 260.90 points to finish 10th, while Hecht tallied 227.45 points to finish 13th.

Oberlin picked up the pace in the 200-yard medley relay, where Myles Felt, Isaac Viviano, Erik Fendorf, and Daniel Bocsi earned third place and All-Conference honors. Their time of 1:30.73 smashes the previous record of 1:32.01, set by the same team in 2023.

Ava Peyton, Audrey Weber, Elinor Frost, and Whitfield led Oberlin in the 200-yard medley relay, but the Crimson and Gold were unable to find the same success as they finished fifth with a time 1:51.25.

The Crimson and Gold continue their championship run tomorrow, Thursday, February 15 with prelims beginning at 9:30 a.m. The evening session and finals will start at 6 p.m.
