Erik Fendorf was named North Coast Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday morning.
An economics major from Stanford, California, Fendorf was a busy man at Oberlin's season-opening invitational posting top-30 national times in multiple events. In addition to besting the field of 24 win to the 100-yard butterfly with the 26th fastest time in the nation this season (52.31), he was also a part of the was also part of the victorious 200-yard medley relay unit that clocked in at 1:34.09, which is the ninth fastest time in the country.
He added third-place finishes in the 100-yard free (47.86) and 50-yard free (21.50), with the latter ranking 26th nationally.
He also swam on the 400-medley relay that was second overall with the ninth fastest time in the country at 3:33.05 … He was lead off on the fifth-place finishing 400-yard free relay that ranks 16th (3:15.81) and was anchor on the 200-yard free relay that placed fourth with the 15th-best time so far this season (1:27.09).
He and the rest of the swimming and diving teams are back in action at Ashland University on November 2.
