Track Women CSC

Oberlin Women’s Track & Field and Cross Country Places Five on CSC Academic All-District®

Oberlin, Ohio - Five members of the Oberlin College women's track and field and cross country program earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Honors ®, the organization announced on Wednesday.

Representing Oberlin was Heather Benway, Hayden Hill, Iyanna Lewis, Sunniva Sheffield, and Emma Hart

To be eligible for the award, one must have a cumulative grade point average 3.50, reach at least sophomore status academically, and participate in a minimum of 50 percent of the team's meets.

Benway, a sophomore from San Carlos, California, was a CSC Academic All-District® selection in the fall for soccer and on the track the neuroscience major earned All-NCAC honors in the long jump both indoors and outdoors. 

Hill, a junior from the View Park, California, was the NCAC champion in the heptathlon. The history major also earned all-conference laurels in the 400-meter hurdles outdoors and the indoor pentathlon. 

An NCAA national qualifier and school record holder in the weight throw indoors, Lewis won two conference championships this season and has since graduated with degrees in physics and Africana Studies. 

A native of Pittsford, New York, Sheffield graduated in December with degrees in chemistry, environmental studies and biochemistry but not before she finished fifth at the 2022 NCAC Cross Country Championship meet to earn first-team All-NCAC honors. 

Hart, who was the athletics department's Norman J. Goldring was the recipient for graduating with the highest GPA of all athletes, scored at both the indoor and outdoor conference championships in the pole vault and recently graduated with degrees in dance and psychology.
