Ada, Ohio - Oberlin's national qualifiers and those seeking to qualify for next weekend's NCAA Indoor Championships competed at the Last Chance Polar Bear Qualifier Saturday on the campus of Ohio Northern University.
Firmly entrenched in the meet, Sarah Voit was fine tuning her work in the pole vault, while Iyanna Lewis and Malaïka Djungu-Sungu did the same in the weight throw and triple jump, respectively. Voit cleared 3.72 meters and will enter as the No. 2 seed at the national meet. Lewis won the weight in 17.16 meters and is currently eighth in the nation as she awaits her first nationals appearance. Djungu-Sungu was fifth in the long jump (5.17m) and currently rests 19th in the country.
Chilly Wallace had a lifetime best mark of 36-09.75 (11.22m) in the triple jump. Zac Ntia was fourth in the weight throw at 55-03.50 (16.85m).
Clare Tiedemann did the 60-meter hurdles in 9.06 to place second and is on the cusp of a potential nationals berth in the pentathlon.
Phoebe von Conta (5:13.71) and Anna Scott (5:13.90) claimed the top two spots in the mile as they sought to post a national qualifying time but came up short.
The list of national qualifiers will be released tomorrow evening.
