Oberlin, Ohio – Coming back to town for their first home meet of the season, the Oberlin College track and field team hosted the Dan Kinsey Invitational on Friday night.
Starting in the field,
Clare Tiedemann finished second in the women's high jump with a leap of 4-07 (1.40m). In the long jump event, the Yeowomen swept the podium led by
Jada Kennerly with 15-11.75 (4.87m).
Lucy Curtis and
Aimee Watts followed in second and third place with 15-08.25 (4.78m) and 15-05.50 (4.71m), respectively. The women's dominance continued in the triple jump with a 1-2-3 finish as
Malaika Djungu-Sungu leaped for 37-05.75 (11.42m,) taking over first-place in the conference.
Chilly Wallace jumped 35-08.75 (10.48m) for second, while
Aesha Mokashi followed with 34-07.50 (10.55m) for third. On the men's side of the triple jump,
Kofi Asare took first with 44-02.75 (13.48m), beating his previous season-best jump.
In the throwing events,
Zac Ntia took first with a distance of 56-01.25 (17.10m) in the men's weight throw. The throw set a new personal record for the Yeomen senior. On the women's side,
Iyanna Lewis crushed the competition, throwing for 57-07.25 (17.57m), beating her previous best by over one meter while moving into fifth in nation and tops in the conference.
On the track, Oberlin 'A' relay team consisting of Kennerly, Curtis,
Zoe Garver, and
Carolyn Smith finished second in the women's 4x200m relay race. With a time of 1:53.51, the team moves into fifth-place in the NCAC. Keeping that energy,
Phoebe von Conta overtook crushed her previous time in the mile race with a second-place time of 5:18.19. In the women's 60m hurdles, Wallace raced her way to first place with a time of 9.23, beating her previous best and improving to second overall in the NCAC standings.
For the Yeomen,
Kambinachi Obioha raced his way to first place in the 400m dash with a time of 54.37 before
Sage Reddish took second place (2:27.10) on the women's side of the event. As the meet continued, Tiedemann took gold again, this time in the 200m dash with a time of 26.89.

Sunniva Sheffield,
Ellis Santangelo went 1-2-3 in the 3000m race. Scott paced the way with a time of 10:49.92 with Sheffield and Santagelo following behind with times of 11:15.05 and 11:49.30, respectively. In the men's 3000m race, Oberlin took 1-7 places led by freshman
Walter Moak with a time of 8:58.90
The Yeomen and Yeowomen get back on the track again next Friday, February 11 as they hit the road again to Berea, OH to compete in the Baldwin Wallace Mid-February Invite.
