Tiffin, OH – The Oberlin College track and field team sent a limited number of participants to the Tiffin University Open on Friday night to cap off the teams' schedule for the 2022 calendar year.
Senior
Zac Ntia posted the nation's seventh-best mark in the weight throw with a personal-best throw of 56-04.60 (17.18m) to place seventh overall in the event behind six other Division II competitors. Classmate
Iyanna Lewis took second on the women's end of the event with toss 58-06.25 (17.84m), while
Abby Cannon ended seventh 47-08 (14.53m).
The Yeomen claimed sports four through six in the long jump. Rookie
Namu Makatiani led the grouping with a mark of 21-01.25 (6.43m) to move into fourth in the NCAC.
Jake Jarvis was just slightly behind at 21-00.75 (6.42m), while
Zack Lee was sixth in 20-11.25 (6.38m).
Sophomore
Kambinachi Obioha turned in a fourth-place effort in the 800-meters, clocking in a personal-best finish of 2:02.57.
First-year
Anna Fritz improved upon her second-ranked marked in the conference in the long jump as she took second overall with a clearance of 17-02.75 (5.25m).
Victoria Blair was 10
th in the shot put with a heave of 36-10.50 (11.24m), while Cannon took 14
th with a mark of 35-01.25 (10.70m).
Oberlin will now rest up for the holidays before returning to action on January 14 at the College of Wooster.
