Three Track & Field Athletes Earn Weekly Honors

Westlake, Ohio – Three Oberlin College track and field athletes earned North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honors, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
 
Sophomore Sarah Voit was named NCAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week, while classmate Clare Tiedemann earned NCAC Sprints/ Hurdles Athlete of the Week. On the men's end, sophomore Kofi Asare tabbed as both NCAC Field Athlete of the Week and NCAC Sprints / Hurdles Athlete of the Week.
 
Voit made her first appearance of the season at the Tiffin University Alumni Open and wasted no time besting her own school record in the pole vault with a mark of 12-05.25 (3.79m), which currently ranks third in the nation and tops in the Great Lakes Region.
 
Tiedemann turned in three personal-best performances on Saturday, posting the fifth-best conference mark in the long jump at 16-02.50 (4.94m) while also recording the fourth-best time in the NCAC in the 200 meters at 28.11. She also took a crack at the shot put posting a mark of 21-08.75 (6.62m).
 
Asare had a lifetime-best time of 23.63 in the 200-meters to move into fourth in the conference in the event. The Berlin, New Jersey, native also cracked top 10 in the league in the long jump with a mark of 20-00.50 (6.11m).
 
The track and field teams will be back in action on January 10 when they host the annual Dan Kinsey Invitational.
