Box Score Cleveland, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's tennis team took on No. 15 Case Western Reserve University on Friday night, falling 8-1 at the Cleveland Racquet Club.

The Yeomen, who rank 10th in the region, continually challenge themselves against the nation's top teams and tonight was no different.

Oberlin put up a fight in all three doubles battles. Manickam Manickam and Robert Gittings fell 8-4 to James Fojtasek and Matthew Chen at No. 1. The second pairing of Michael Drougas and Stephen Gruppuso lost by the same count to Sam Concannon and Anthony Kanam. Oberlin's third duo of Levi Kimmel and Elliot Nuss fell 8-3.

At No. 1 singles, Fojtasek got the best of Drougas by winning 6-1, 6-2. With Gruppuso sitting out of singles, Manickam was inserted into the second slot where he came up short against Chen, dropping both sets by a 6-1 scoreline.

In his first match with the Yeomen, Nuss, who is a mid-year transfer, gave Oberlin its lone point of the night as he knocked off Henry Squire 6-4, 5-7, 10-4 for his first win in the crimson and gold at the No. 6 position.

Sophomore Zachary Vaughn had a tight contest at No. 3 against Rob Stroup. Vaughn won the first set 6-3, but fell just short in the next two by the scores of 6-4, 7-6 (7-5).

Gittings finished on the wrong end of 6-4, 6-2 line against Siddharth Rajupet at No. 4, while Kimmel was upended by Concannon at No. 5 by matching 6-2 scores.

The Yeomen have another tough test ahead on Sunday morning as they welcome No. 9 Chicago to the John W. Heisman Field House. The first serve is set for 10 a.m.
