Cherry Hill, NJ - In addition to celebrating Senior Day, the Oberlin College men's basketball team will be Going Gold during its home game on Saturday, February 6, against Wittenberg University at 3pm to help in the fight against childhood cancer, the number one cause of death in children by disease.
As part of Go4theGoal's Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer campaign, the Yeomen will don shoelaces that are gold, the color for childhood cancer awareness, during the game. Money generated from Oberlin's gold lace sales, plus any additional donations received, will support kids who are fighting cancer in Ohio.
"We are very excited to take an active role in the fight against pediatric cancer." says Coach
Isaiah Cavaco. "No child deserves to battle such a horrible disease, and I'm optimistic that we will be able to find solutions. I hope that we can raise the awareness and support to get us closer to a cure."
"It is always an honor working with college teams," said Beth Stefanacci, Go4theGoal Executive Director. "We have developed a relationship with Akron Children's Hospital and Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland over the past two years and we're excited to continue to build relationships with athletic programs in that area. We're excited about our new partnership with the Yeoman and their efforts to support local children in Ohio."
To support the Yeoman Baseketball program in the fight against childhood cancer, please consider purchasing gold laces or making a donation at
