Results From Baldwin Wallace UniversityOberlin, Ohio – While some members of the Oberlin College track and field team rested for tomorrow's All-Ohio Championship meet, others were in action at Baldwin Wallace University and Boston University on Friday evening.
The highlight of the night came in Beantown as senior
Carey Lyons became the just second female in school history to run a sub-five minute mile, as she clocked in at 4:59.28. The unconverted mark currently ranks as the fifth fastest in the country.
Later in the evening at the BU Valentine Invitational,
Emma Lehmann placed 31
st out of 60 runners in the 5,000 with a time of 17:55.25. Classmate
Sarah Jane Kerwin ended three spots back in 17:57.91. Both times are currently in the top 25 in the nation at the Division III level.
At BW the rookie paring of
Rayna Holmes and
Annie Goodridge earned a 1-2 finish in the women's long jump. Holmes edged her Yeowomen teammate by a half inch as she covered 15-11.50 compared to Goodridge's mark of 15-11.00.
In the mile at BW, rookie
Mia Bates took second place in 5:33.48. Classmate
Sarah Urso was eighth in 5:44.62.
First-year
Erin Ford completed the 1,000-meter run in 3:26.06 to place fourth, while senior teammate
Rose Stoloff was one spot back in 3:30.76.
In the women's 3000 meters, junior
Calista Diehl ended in sixth place with a time of 11:45.42.
Sophomore
Hannah Tyburski added a sixth-place showing in the weight throw with a toss of 44-03.50. Senior
Katherine Skayhan and first-year
Lisa Carle tied for sixth in the high jump as they cleared 4-07. Newcomer Sofia Moscovitz also tied for sixth in the pole vault as she soared 8-11.75.
On the men's end
Andrew Witcher placed seventh in the mile in 4:40.42, while sophomore
Ben Venerdi was 18
th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.72.
Junior
Yorito Nakata added an 11th-place showing the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:36.38.
The Oberlin College track and field teams will be in action tomorrow at the All-Ohio Championships on the campus of Otterbein University.
