WESTLAKE, Ohio – After opening the 2015-16 season at the University of Mount Union with a pair of two-three finishes on Saturday, second-years
Lilah Drafts-Johnson and
Monique Newton earned Athlete of the Week honors.
Sophomore
Lilah Drafts-Johnson turned in a quality second place finish in the women's 500-meter dash at the unscored Mount Union Purple Raider Toy Drive meet. The Melrose, Massachusetts native crossed the line of the two-and a half lap event in 1:22.11.
Newton kicked off her sophomore campaign with a school-record toss to win the shot put. The Sacramento, California native used her third attempt to release a heave of 14.29m to win the event.
The Oberlin track and field squads return in 2016 when they host the Dan Kinsey Invitational on Friday, January 8.
