Yeo Notes: Oberlin College at DePauw University

Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College football team will conclude the road portion of its season on Saturday afternoon at DePauw University.

Last Meeting Against The Tigers: The Yeomen fell to the Tigers at the Austin E. Knowlton Athletics Complex, 54-14, on October 11, 2014 … Then freshman Trace McConnell caught his first-career touchdown to go along with a career-high 90 yards in the loss.
 
Last Time Out For Oberlin: The Yeomen fell on the road last week at Wittenberg, 62-2.
 
Series Information: This is just the third meeting between the school's since DePauw joined the NCAC in 2011 …  Prior to the 2013 season, their last battle came in 1983 when DePauw won 28-15 … The series dates back to 1929 in a game that saw DePauw prevail 7-0 … The two foes would not meet again until 1941 … Oberlin's first win in the series was in 1945 when they beat the Tigers in the season finale, 26-14, to cap an undefeated season for the Yeomen.

DePauw enters the game riding the momentum of a thrilling last second, 31-29, win over Denison … The Tigers only blemish came two weeks ago when it dropped a 27-22 decision at Ohio Wesleyan … The Tigers are second in the NCAC in scoring at 40.4 points per game, while their defense is allowing just 16.1, which is also second best the league … Junior quarterback Matt Hunt guides the conference's top offense that produces 486.2 yards per game … He leads all players in total offense with an average of 295.9 yards per game while also accounting for a league-best 25 TDs (21 passing / 4 rushing) … Junior classmate Jason Kirchhoff is second in the NCAC rushing at 93.3 per game … Nate Orrison and Chris Hawk lead the defense as they have registered six sacks each.
 
Slow Starters …
Oberlin needs to eliminate the first quarter jitters and be ready to play from the opening whistle … The Yeomen are getting out-scored 111-42 in the first 15 minutes of games this season … Last Week the Tigers of Wittenberg scored 27 first-quarter points and last year against DePauw it was 21-0 after one period.

Senior quarterback Lucas Poggiali enters Saturday's game with 1,392 yards passing, which is just 16 yards shy of his season total from a year ago … He is also just 117 yards short of tying a single-season career-high of 1,509 yards that he had in 2013.

A total of 16 different Yeomen have caught at least one pass so far this season with nine different players hauling in touchdown passes … The Yeomen also have four players averaging over 36 yards receiving per game … Freshman Robby Reinheimer leads the bunch at 61 yards per game … He is followed by Justin Cruz (47.8), Jabari Clemons (45) and Corey Fussinger (36.2).

In conference play 'Big Play Rob' Robby Reinheimer leads the NCAC with average of 20.3 yards per catch and ranks sixth in receiving with an average of 61 yards per game.
 
Across State Lines …
Oberlin's last two wins in the state of Indiana came in 2012 when it opened the season with a 33-3 win at Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana and then went to Crawfordsville and shocked the country with a 31-16 win over Wabash on November 3 … Since the start of 2012 Oberlin is 4-4 outside the state of Ohio.
