Irving, Texas – Four student-athletes from the Oberlin College football team were recognized by the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society for their academic excellence through their college careers.
The NFF Hampshire Honor Society awards college football players from all divisions who maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or better throughout their college careers. Earning a selection to the 2026 NFF Hampshire Honor Society class, marking the 20th year of academic excellence, were Hunter Green, Michael Mathis, Drew Nye, and Connor Steele.
A Psychology and Environmental Studies double major, Green is a two-time All-Conference honoree. Totaling 354 career tackles, the Odenton, Maryland native ranks second all-time in program history.
Graduating in May with a degree in Law and Society, Mathis has played in all 40 games of his career, delivering starts in 39 of them. The Bingham Farms, Michigan native earned College Sports Communicators Academic (CSC) All-District honors earlier this year.
A career starting quarterback from Clinton, Connecticut, Nye has been instrumental in leading Oberlin's offense. Finishing his tenure with 964 passing attempts, the Law and Society major ranks second all-time in program history.
Earning degrees in Law and Society and Politics, Steele has scored a touchdown in every season and finished his career with more than 1,100 yards of total offense. Hailing from Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, Steele is a two-time CSC All-District recipient.
"I am incredibly proud of Hunter, Michael, Drew, and Connor for being selected for the 20th National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society class. They embody the qualities of a scholar-athlete and have been instrumental in building a culture of hard work on the field and in the classroom," Head Coach John Pont adds.
In the midst of their spring offseason, the Crimson and Gold look ahead to their 2026 season.
