Box Score Oberlin, Ohio – Oberlin College field hockey dropped their Sunday afternoon North Coast Athletic Conference matchup with the Kenyon College Ladies, 5-0.
The Ladies jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first half before adding two more goals in the 38th and 39th minute to push the Yeowomen to 1-6 overall and 1-5 in the NCAC.
Sophomore
Maureen Coffey provided the best scoring opportunity for the Yeowomen in the first half. At the 12:32 mark Coffey broke through the Kenyon defense and placed a shot on goal, but it was turned away.
Coffey created five more scoring chances in the second half but the Kenyon keeper would not be beat.
Coffey led the Yeowomen with six shot, all of which were on target.
The Yeowomen defense increased the pressure in the second half limiting the Ladies to 14 shots.
Sophomore goalie
Maggie Gossiaux set a career-high with 33 saves against the Ladies. Her 33 save performance against Kenyon marks her sixth double-digit save performance of the season, while her season total moves to an impressive 138.
Oberlin field hockey will return to action on Friday, October 3 when they travel to Granville, Ohio and the campus of Denison University. First touch between Denison and the Yeowomen is scheduled for 4 p.m.
