Meadville, PA – The Oberlin College baseball team mustered just two hits in game one, and didn't have enough offense in game two as the home Gators of Allegheny College defeated the Yeomen 5-0 and 6-3 on Saturday afternoon.

With the sweep the Yeomen have now dropped four straight, falling to 12-10 overall and 5-5 in the NCAC East.

Oberlin had no answer for Gators' senior Kyle Davis as he struck out nine and walked none in the complete-game victory. He is now 5-1 on the season. Davis needed just 85 pitches, 63 of which were strikes, to get through the Yeomen lineup.

Mitch Novak and Kyle Decker had the Yeomen's lone two hits of the game.

Harrison Wollman (1-2) took the loss after tossing five innings and allowing six hits. Four of the five runs he allowed were earned. He also walked three and fanned two.

The Gators scored a pair of runs in each of the first two innings and added one more in the fifth on senior Mike Pezzone's two-out RBI double.

The nightcap was more promising for the Yeomen faithful as Oberlin out-hit the Gators 10-8, but it only resulted in the three runs as Oberlin stranded eight runners in the game.

Yeomen starter Benjamin Whitener (1-2) lasted just three innings as the Gators touched him up for five runs on four hits.

Junior southpaw Steven Ramsdell threw all nine innings for the Gators, totaling 133 pitches (90 strikes). He sprinkled the 10 hits to go along with seven punchouts and just one walk.

Staring at a 5-0 deficit, the Yeomen tried to claw their way back into the game by scoring three runs in the fifth. Justin Cruz and Brian Hemmert both reached base to start the inning and Bliss would later follow with an RBI double to center field to get the Yeomen on the board. Junior Danny Baldocchi would then come through with a clutch two-out two-run single to right to make it a 5-3 game.

The Gators would quickly extend their lead back out to three, scratching out a run in the home-half of the inning.

Oberlin would put a man aboard in three of the final four innings, but all three times they were left stranded.

Justin Kidd and Jesse Kohler each pitched an inning of relief before giving way to Julian Sawhill, who allowed just two hits and no runs over the final three innings.

The Gators are now 16-6 overall and 5-1 in the NCAC East.

Oberlin will try to salvage a series split tomorrow, as these same two teams will do it again starting at 12 p.m.
