Waltham, MA – The Oberlin College field hockey team made the long journey to Massachusetts to tangle with Division II Bentley University on Saturday night and put forth a great effort despite falling, 4-0, to the Falcons.

"I was really happy with our intensity and effort tonight," Second-year Head Coach Anna Baeth said. "While the result was not in our favor, these are games that you can learn a lot from and it will certainly help us moving forward on into our conference season."

The Falcons came into the match ranked eighth in the nation at the NCAA Division II level and were an NCAA Tournament team a season ago. It was the program's 13th appearance in the national tournament.

Bentley opened the game's scoring 6:40 into the contest on Becca Moore's second goal of the season. Gina Lirange would add another score five minutes later, but the Yeowomen would buckle down defensively as they trailed just 2-0 at the half.

Lirange would strike again early in the second half before Meghan Taierman would cap the game's scoring in the 51st minute.

Oberlin attempted seven shots in the game, with three on goal. Hannah Christiansen, Ariana Enzerink and Olivia DeToma each had a shot on frame.

Goalie Carmen Azevedo turned away five of the nine shots she faced. In total the Falcons fired off 17 attempts. Bentley also earned 10 penalty corners, while Oberlin worked its way for five.

The Yeowomen have an extremely short turnaround as they take on Wheelock College tomorrow at 11 a.m.
