Field Hockey Can't Keep Up With Ladies

Freshman Ariana Enzerink scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season in the loss.
Box Score

Gambier, Ohio – The Oberlin College field hockey team was able to score first, but could not build on that advantage, as they fell on the road to the Kenyon College Ladies, 6-2.

First-year Ariana Enzerink scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season just over 11 minutes into the match. She received the ball off a penalty corner and circled around a few defenders before finishing with a shot to the right side.

The Ladies were quick to respond and didn't look back as they kept Oberlin goalkeeper Carmen Azevedo busy all afternoon. Kenyon scored three goals in the first half and ripped off 18 shots, forcing Azevedo to make six saves.

It was more of the same in the second half as the Ladies took another 15 shots and Azevedo came up with six saves again, marking her third game this season with double digit saves.

The Yeowomen were able to tack on another goal with seven minutes left to play, but their comeback was not enough to slow the Ladies. Elizabeth Raskin scored her fourth goal of the season and Claire Miller picked up her first assist of the season.

Oberlin managed 10 shots and forced the Ladies goalkeeper to make four saves. Kenyon also held the edge in penalty corners, 19-7.

The Yeowomen will be back in action next Friday as part of homecoming weekend, hosting Denison University. Start time is set for 4 p.m.
