Granville, Ohio – The Oberlin College golf team concluded the Ted Barclay Invitational on Sunday afternoon with a two-round total of 871 (423-448).
Rookie
Justin Ruiz led the effort by finishing tied for 26
th with a 36-hole score of 160. The newcomer shot a 79 on Saturday and followed with an 81 on Sunday on the par-71, 6,559-yard layout at the Granville Golf Club.
Classmate
John Ingham was also consistent throughout the weekend, checking in at 102 on Saturday before improving by a stroke on Sunday for a total of 203.
Besides Ruiz,
Michael Jacobs shot the only other round of the weekend under 100 as he carded in an 98 on Saturday, but then followed with a 107 today to finish two shots back of Ingham at 205.
Rachel Coyte completed the Oberlin scorecard with a 303 (144-159).
The Tigers of Wittenberg won the event with a score of 586 (295-291) – finishing just 18 strokes over par as a team. The Tigers' Alex Andrews claimed medalist honors with an impressive -4 score of 138 as he shot a 72 on Saturday followed by a 5-under 66 on Sunday.
Oberlin will conclude the season next weekend, as the NCAC Championship Series will finish at Oakhaven Golf Club in Delaware, Ohio.
