Box Score

Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College women's lacrosse team fell to visiting Adrian College on Wednesday afternoon, 17-6, in steady snowfall and frigid temperatures at Fred Shults Field.

Adrian started fast by jumping out to an 8-0 lead over the first 20 minutes of play. Junior Sarah Andrews put the Yeowomen on the board when she scored an unassisted goal with 8:34 remaining in the first half.

After the Bulldogs added two more goals to their lead, sophomore Kate Hanick scored for Oberlin at the 3:27 mark to make the score 10-2 in favor of Adrian.

Oberlin went into the half down 11-2 after the Bulldogs tacked on another score with 39 seconds left in the first half.

First-year Grace Barlow opened the second period with a goal of her own at 24:04. After an Adrian goal, junior Phoebe Hammer found the back of the net with 11:44 remaining to make the score 12-4.

However, that's as close as the Yeowomen would get for the rest of the contest, as Adrian went on a five-goal scoring run over a seven-minute span.

Oberlin put up two more goals in the final two minutes of regulation when Andrews assisted on a goal by sophomore Bronwen Schumacher and put in her second goal of the afternoon, as well. Hanick was credited with the assist on Andrews' goal, making the final score 17-6.

The Bulldogs led with 30 shots and 25 ground balls to the Yeowomen's 20 shots and 20 ground balls.

Oberlin falls to 1-2 on the season and looks to get back on track in its next contest when they travel to Buffalo State on March 15 for a 4 p.m. matchup.
