Granville, Ohio – The Oberlin College field hockey team went on the road Saturday to face the Denison University Big Red. The Yeowomen played tough in the first half, but eventually fell 8-0.
The loss dropped the Yeowomen to 4-14 overall and 3-11 in conference play. The Big Red move to 17-1 overall and 13-1 in NCAC play.
At halftime the Big Red held a 2-0 lead and outshot the Yeowomen 16-0.
Carmen Azevedo made five saves in the first half.
It was more of the same in the second half as Denison peppered the Oberlin goal with 11 more shots and scored six more goals.
Azevedo made two more saves in the second frame before giving way to first-year
Maggie Gossiaux who played 15 minutes in goal for the Yeowomen.
Jodi Helsel led the way for the Yeowomen offense as she had three shots, two of which were on goal.
Ariana Enzerink also took two shots to help the Oberlin offense.
The Yeowomen will wrap up their season tomorrow as they play Rhodes College at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky.
