Yeo Notes: Oberlin College at DePauw University

Sophomore quarterback Lucas Poggiali hopes to get the Yeomen offense back on track on Saturday.
Oberlin, Ohio – The Yeomen football team is looking to right the ship as they hit the road for a game against DePauw University on Saturday.
 
What: Oberlin College (1-3, 0-3 NCAC) at DePauw University (0-4, 0-3 NCAC)

Series: The Yeomen trail in the all-time series, 3-7-4.
 
Last Meeting Against The Tigers: This will be the first ever meeting between the two schools as NCAC rivals, as the last time they met was 1983 when DePauw won, 28-15. Since the Tigers joined the NCAC in 2011 the two football teams have not faced one another.
 
Last Time Out For Oberlin: Lost at home to Kenyon, 21-14, despite leading at halftime, 14-13.
 
Series Information: The first meeting between the schools was in 1929, with DePauw winning, 7-0. The two schools would not meet again until 1941, when again DePauw won, 6-0. In 1945, the Yeomen finally broke through and defeated DePauw, 26-14, in the final game of the Yeomen's undefeated season.
 
Scouting The Tigers …
DePauw comes into the game after losing at Denison this past Saturday, 42-21 … With two quarterbacks that have seen playing time for the Tigers, the Yeomen defense will have to be ready for anything … Freshman Matt Hunt seems to be the main play caller for the Tigers, with over 530 passing yards and four touchdowns, including two last week at Denison … Nikko Sansone leads the rushing attack with 220 yards and three touchdowns … Defensively, Adam Folta and Cody Baker lead the NCAC with 11.2 and 10.8 tackles per game respectively.
 
The Bash Brothers …
Kyle Kessler and Justin Bute are continuing to impress for the Yeomen defensively, as they both average 10 tackles per game, which ties them for fourth in the conference … As an overall defensive unit, the Yeomen are continuing to climb in the conference rankings.
 
Grinding It Out …
The Yeomen rank third in the conference in time of possession; averaging almost 32 minutes per contest … That number ranks them in the top 50 of all Division III for time of possession.
 
No Foul Play ...
The Yeomen continue to be the least penalized team in the conference … There totals of 33.8 yards and three penalties per game is not only tops in the conference, but places them in a tie as the fourth least penalized team in Division III.
 
Spreading The Love …
The Yeomen have three players with over 100 yards receiving, including fifth-year Adam Niec who leads the team with 125 yards … In the rushing attack, Moses Richardson continues to set the tone and is in the top ten of the NCAC for rushing yards per game … Oberlin has three players with 40 or more rushing attempts this season, including the dual-threat quarterback, Lucas Poggiali.
 
Kisley Is King …
Zach Kisley is fourth in the conference in punting average, 37.2 yards per punt, and tied for second with six punts downed inside the 20 … Against Kenyon, the senior had a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, an interception, and seven total tackles. On the season, Kisley has 26 total tackles and over 100 for his career at Oberlin.
 
Cruz-ing By …
First-year Justin Cruz is continuing to impress in all facets of the game for the Yeomen … Cruz hauled in a career high 68 receiving yards and also punted once last week against Kenyon … Cruz has also recorded two tackles and returns punts and kicks for Oberlin … Earlier this year against Wooster, Cruz had over 100 kick return yards.
 
Returning the Favor …
Oberlin has had good starting field position all season long thanks to the kick returning of Cruz and Blake Buckhannon … The duo has over 350 total return yards, with Buckhannon's 227 yards tying him for fourth in the NCAC.
