Field Hockey Drops Home Finale to Kenyon

Oberlin, Ohio – Playing for the final time on its natural grass field, the Oberlin College field hockey team was unable to slow down the visiting Ladies of Kenyon College, falling 5-0 on Sunday afternoon.
 
With two road games remaining on the schedule, the Yeowomen now rest at 4-13 overall and 3-10 in the NCAC. Kenyon ran its record to 11-8 and 9-4 in the league with the win.
 
Oberlin triggered eight shots in the game, but just two were on goal. Jodi Helsel and Claire Miller each had one shot on frame.
 
Yeowomen goalie Carmen Azevedo did her best to keep Oberlin close, finishing with nine saves in the game. Marissa Blackwell was also credited with a defensive save in the setback.
 
Kenyon fired off 19 shots in the game with 15 on goal. The Ladies also had a 12-6 advantage in penalty corners.
 
Kenyon's Maddie Breschi had a tremendous game, scoring four goals and assisting on another.
 
The Yeowomen, who are scheduled to play their home games in 2014 inside the new multi-sports complex that will be constructed, are back in action on Saturday at Denison University at 11 a.m.
