Oberlin trails in the all-time series against the Gators 19-26-1… The first meeting between the two schools was in 1907 when Oberlin shut out Allegheny 25-0… In 2011, the Gators jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the first half… After a slow start, the Yeomen offense went on to score 14 second half points en route to a win in the final game of the season… Wide receiver Robin Witjes hauled in 10 catches for 115 yards and a touchdown in the contest, while Zach Kisley sealed the victory with an interception late in the fourth quarter.  
 
Scouting the Gators …
Allegheny comes into week five of the season off of a huge conference win against nationally ranked No. 7 Wabash… The victory over the Little Giants in Crawfordsville, Indiana is the first victory over Wabash in its home stadium in three years… Last week's win puts the Gators at 2-1 on the season and 1-0 in the NCAC… The Allegheny offense is led by quarterback Mike Person who has throw for 311 yards and two touchdowns on the season… Senior linebacker Bill Devlin leads the defense with 25 tackles through the first three games of the season.
 
Yeomen Players in NCAC and National Rankings…
Senior defensive linemen Clay Eaton has 6.5 sacks through the first three games of the season, which averages out to 2.17 sacks a game… Eaton's sack per game average ranks in first in the country … Also on the defensive side of the ball, senior David Kalgren is second in the NCAC in interceptions with three… His one interception per game average also ranks him seventh in NCAA Division III… On offense, senior Robin Witjes' 76 receiving yards per game ranks first in the conference… Witjes also ranks second in the conference in all-purpose yards with just over 128 yards per game and second in total receiving yards with 228 on the season.
 
Oberlin Defense and Special Teams…
Heading into the fifth week of the season across the country, the Yeomen rushing defense ranks third in the NCAC, allowing 83.7 rushing yards a game... The defense also ranks second in the conference in interceptions with seven picks returned for a total of 99 yards and two touchdowns… On special teams, Oberlin leads the conference with nine returns for a total of 210 return yards.
 
Andrews Approaching A Record …
Sophomore kicker Erickson Andrews is halfway to the single-season field goal record through just three games… Andrews' field goal total for 2012 is currently six, just five shy of Steve Willever's record of 11 field goals in a season.
 
Opening Conference Road Game…
The trip to Allegheny marks Oberlin's first conference matchup away in 2012… The last time the Yeomen won their conference opener on the road came in 2010 when they defeated Kenyon 29-26 in overtime.
 
The Good and the Bad …
Third down is where a lot of games are decided and through the first three games the Yeomen have been both good and bad on the critical down … Oberlin has converted just of 7-of-43 third-down attempts for a 16-percent success rate, but on the flip side their defense has allowed opponents to move the chains just 10 times on 43 tries for a 23-percent clip.
