Oberlin, Ohio- The Oberlin College women's field hockey team lost to Kenyon 3-1 on homecoming weekend after a run of second-half Lady scoring.
Kenyon got on the board first as they found the back of the net 16 minutes into the game. The goal was the lone score of the first half.
Oberlin tied the game when junior
Karin Yoshida scored her eighth goal of the season on an assist from sophomore
Jodi Helsel 15 minutes into the second half. However, Kenyon responded and took the lead back, scoring less than one minute after the Yeowomen goal. Kenyon went on to score its third goal of the game in the 53rd minute to extend its lead by two, 3-1.
Senior
Kiran Puri and sophomore
Carmen Azevedo split time in goal for the Yeowomen. Puri finished with four saves, while Azevedo ended with three. Azevedo recorded the loss on the day.
Kenyon's 16 shots edged out Oberlin's 10. However, the Ladies dominated in penalty corners with 21 to the Yeowomen's four.
Oberlin falls to 2-4 on the year and 1-4 in the conference.
The Yeowomen's next contest is on September 27 when they travel to Ohio Wesleyan for a 4:30 p.m. matchup.
