Series Information …
Oberlin trails in the all-time series against the Terriers 25-28… The first meeting between the two schools was in 1895 when Oberlin shut out Hiram 52-0… In 2011, Oberlin defeated Hiram 27-7… In last year's homecoming victory against the Terriers,
Robin Witjes accounted for 160 yards of offense while recording those yards on the ground and through the air as a quarterback and a receiver… The Hiram offense did well putting up 353 yards of offense, but only made two trips to the red zone … Oberlin has beat the Terriers in the last three meetings.
Scouting the Terriers …
Hiram is coming into the week after a 23-7 loss to Chicago… Senior quarterback Brendon Rehor who has thrown for 619 yards and two touchdowns on the season leads the Terrier offense… Junior Richard Simpson who has hauled in 39 receptions for 392 yards and four touchdowns leads the receiving core… Juniors Josh Peacock and Tyler Williams lead the defense both with 67 tackles on the year.
Keeping it Close with Case …
Obelrin's overtime loss to Case Western Reserve last week marked the closest margin of victory for the Spartans since 2006 when the Yeomen forced overtime and fell short by six points … Unfortunately, for the Yeomen keeping it close doesn't change the outcome as OC has now dropped 28 straight battles with the Spartans.
Third Down Turn Around …
The Oberlin offense was 5-14 on third down against Case Western Reserve last week, marking the Yeomen's best third down conversion rate in a game this season at 35.7 percent … The Yeomen offense will be going up against a Hiram defense that ranks last in the conference on third down, allowing opponents to convert 47.4 percent of the time.
Eaton Remains on Track …
Despite not recording a sack in last week's game against Case Western Reserve, senior defensive linemen
Clay Eaton ranks at the top of the NCAA Division III sacks list for the fifth straight week … With three games remaining, Eaton's 12.5 sacks are one shy of Chris Pisani's single-season record of 13.5 that he racked up in the 2006 season… Eaton and the Yeomen defense will be going up against a Hiram offense that ranks second to last in the conference in sacks allowed with 21 on the season.
Offensive Onslaught at Hiram …
The last time the Yeomen traveled Hiram they scored 47 points and put up an Oberlin-record 622 yards of offense… Between two quarterbacks, the Yeomen threw for 401 yards, the third-highest total in school history, and ran for 221 yards.
