Yeo Notes: Game 7: Case Western vs. Oberlin

Justin Williams and company will look to get the Yeomen ground attack going on Saturday.
Oberlin, Ohio- The Oberlin College football team seeks its third win of the season at Savage Stadium on October 20 when Case Western Reserve comes to town.

Series Information …
Oberlin trails in the all-time series against the Spartans 5-30… The first meeting between the two schools was in 1972 when Oberlin dropped a close one 27-21… In 2011, Oberlin fell to Case Western 47-21… In last year's loss, quarterback Josh Mandel threw for 126 yards and two touchdowns… Wide receiver Robin Witjes hauled in six receptions for 56 yards and a touchdown… The Spartans jumped out to a 37-7 first half lead after the defense returned two interceptions for touchdowns … The Yeomen have fallen to the Spartans 27 times in a row, with their last victory coming back in 1982.
 
Scouting the Spartans …
Case Western is coming into the week after a 31-28 win over Wooster… The Spartan offense is led by senior quarterback Erik Olson who has thrown for 1,249 yards and 10 touchdowns through the first six games of the season… The Case Western rushing attack is led by sophomore running back Manny Sicre who has run for 424 yards after playing in five games… Senior linebacker Ryan Ferguson leads all Spartan tacklers with 62 on the year.
 
Eaton Continues Career Year …
Senior defensive linemen Clay Eaton ranks at the top of the NCAA Division III sacks list for the fourth straight week… Eaton's 12.5 sacks and 2.08 sacks per game average in 2012 are the highest sack totals at every level of NCAA football… In addition to his record-setting sack totals in 2012, Eaton's performance last week against Denison secured the top spot for career tackles-for-loss in Oberlin history… Eaton's 48.5 career tackles-for-loss passed John Ramsier's previous record of 45.5 ... He needs just one sack to tie Chris Pisani's single-season record of 13.5.
 
Witjes All Over the Record Book …
After a career game against Denison last week, wide receiver Robin Witjes moved into fifth place on the all-time list for career receiving yards with 1,694… His 222 yards against Denison also marked the second-most receiving yards in a game in Oberlin history… Part of those 222 yards came off of an 89-yard touchdown, which marked the longest pass play in Oberlin history… Witjes' 547 receiving yards and 91.17 yards per game average in 2012 ranks first in the conference.
 
Stifling Yeomen defense …
The Yeomen defense recorded nine sacks against Denison last week, while allowing just three net yards on the ground… Junior Jake Danko brought the quarterback down four times, tying the second-most sacks in a game record… Eaton continued to add to his career sack record with three against the Big Red … The Yeomen totaled 13 tackles for a loss and held the NCAC's leading rusher Sam Fioroni to just 49 yards.
 
Mandel Not Missing a Beat
Senior quarterback Josh Mandel stepped right back into to his role leading the offense last week against Denison after missing three games due to injury… Mandel threw for 275 yards and three touchdowns, completing 17 of 30 passes, while setting the record for longest touchdown pass in Yeomen history after throwing an 89-yard score to Witjes.
 
Award Me ...
For their efforts last week against the Big Red, Jake Danko (9 tackles, 5 TFLs, 4 sacks) and Clay Eaton (3 Sacks, FF, FR) were named to the Beyond Sports Network Team of the Week … Danko and Robin Witjes (12 catches, 222 yards, 2 TDs) were also named to the D3football.com Team of the Week and as the OhioCollegeFootball.com Division III Players of the Week
 
Block Party …
Shawn Chrapczynski has been a menace on special teams as he already has five blocked kicks on the year, including a blocked field goal against Denison last week that was returned 85 yards for a touchdown … With one rejection last year, the local Lorain, Ohio now has six in his career.
