Delaware, Ohio – Earlier in the day she was named as the NCAC/Stern Female Athlete of the Year and in the evening Joanna Johnson lived up to the billing by adding her fifth-career NCAA All-America honor by placing fifth in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Thursday.

The native of Chico, California, checked in fifth overall with a school-record time of 35:36.91, which was also better than the previous stadium record.

“I am happy for J.J. as she ran a great race,” Head Coach Ray Appenheimer said. “She will now rest up tomorrow and prepare for the 5K on Saturday.”

Before Johnson returns to action on Saturday, junior Stephen Williams will be representing Oberlin in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Friday evening.
