Oberlin, Ohio –
The visiting Denison University Big Red proved to be too strong for the Oberlin College women's lacrosse team as they defeated the Yeowomen 18-5 in what was the first North Coast Athletic Conference of the season for Oberlin.

Sophomore Ilyssa Meyer did her part to try to keep Oberlin as she scored two goals and secured six draw controls. Grace Amber, Molly Bloom and Sarah Andrews provided the other three OC tallies. Amber also added a team-high five groundballs.

After a hot start by the Big Red, Oberlin battled back to make it a 6-2 game with 20 minutes left in the opening half. However, the visitors would go on to score 9 of the next 10 goals of the frame to lead 15-3 at the break.

In the second half the Big Red slowed down to the pace and worked possession, which prevented any possible chance of an OC comeback.

Despite being out-shot 3-13, the Yeomen were neck-and-neck with the Big Red in the hustle stats. DU had a slight 16-15 edge in groundballs and won 14 draw controls compared to Oberlin's 11.

Sophomore goalie Madeleine O'Meara controlled the cage for all 60 minutes and made nine saves for the Yeowomen.

Oberlin returns to action on Sunday April 10 at Ohio Wesleyan.
